  • Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets, Acrobat and your browser
  • Styled after the AIA G702 and G703, not affiliated with the AIA

The G702 is the application for payment: the one-page summary with the contract sum, the work completed to date, retainage and the amount due. The G703 is the continuation sheet behind it, one row per schedule-of-values line with the scheduled value, the work completed and the balance to finish. The Column G total on the G703 is Line 4 on the G702, and the rest of the summary is computed from there.

These forms are styled after the AIA G702 and G703, with the same lines, columns and arithmetic in our own wording. They are not the official AIA documents, and PayAppCheck is not affiliated with the AIA. If your contract names the official forms, buy them from AIA Contract Documents. To see what goes in each box, read how to fill out a G702 and G703.

The downloads

  1. Excel template, formula-linked

    XLSX

One workbook, three sheets: a Read me, the G702-style certificate and the G703-style continuation sheet. You type the scheduled values and this period’s work; everything derived, from Column G to the payment due, is a formula. Opens in Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets and LibreOffice.

Use it when you bill from a spreadsheet and want the formulas to do the math.

Enter your email above to download.

  2. Fillable PDF

    PDF

Type into the boxes in Acrobat, Preview or your browser, then save and print. Three pages: the summary with Lines 1 to 9 and a 40-line continuation sheet. In Acrobat the shaded boxes calculate (G = D + E + F, the percent, H = C - G, the totals and the summary lines); in other viewers, type them and check them.

Use it when you want to send a typed PDF and do not want a spreadsheet.

Enter your email above to download.

  3. Blank printable PDF

    PDF

The summary and the continuation sheet with empty boxes, laid out to print on Letter paper and fill in by hand.

Use it when you fill in pay apps on paper, on site, or need a blank copy for a subcontract package.

Enter your email above to download.

  4. Filled sample, PDF and Excel

    PDF + XLSX

A completed G702/G703 for an example subcontract, every figure filled in and tying: the Column G total equals Line 4, and Line 8 is the payment due.

Use it when you want to see a finished pay app before you fill in your own, or need an example for a new subcontractor.

Enter your email above to download.

  5. Online builder

    ONLINE

Fill in the lines in your browser. The builder checks the math, then downloads the G702/G703 as a PDF or an Excel file. Save it to a free account and Start next month carries this month’s figures into the next application, or upload last month’s pay app and it is carried forward for you. Send the finished pay app to your GC from there, with a link that shows the figures tie.

Use it when you bill every month and want next month to start from this one.

More on the workbook, column by column, is in the Excel template guide.
