A Torgo alternative for Mac subcontractors who bill G702/G703

Published · 4 min read · By Ludvig Bergerud, builder of PayAppCheck

If Torgo no longer runs on your Mac, the free PayAppCheck builder does the same monthly job in Safari. Type your schedule of values once, enter what you billed through your last Torgo application, and download the G702/G703 as a PDF. Next month, one button carries every line forward. Nothing to install and no account.

Who this is for

Subcontractors who have billed for years with Torgo Software’s TS 702 and TS 703 billing program and now have a Mac it does not run on. Torgo describes its forms as comparable to the AIA G702 and G703, and sells separate Mac and Windows versions that run on your own computer. As of October 2026, its published system requirements list Mac versions from OS X 10.10 through macOS Monterey. If you have moved to a newer Mac, ask Torgo Software about current support first; if that does not get you billing again, this page is the way to carry on without starting over.

What you need from a replacement is the part you used every month: the next pay request starts from the last one, so you only type this period’s work. The free builder does that in the browser you already have.

What moves over from your last Torgo pay app

You retype one application, the most recent one, from its printout or PDF. After that the builder carries everything forward. Here is where each figure goes:

From your last pay appGoes into the builder as
Each schedule-of-values line: item, description, scheduled valueColumns A, B and C, once
Work completed on each line, previous plus this period (D + E)Column D, from previous application
Materials still stored and not yet installed (F)Column F
Retainage rateThe rate box; Lines 5a and 5b compute from it
Original contract sum and net change orders (Lines 1 and 2)Lines 1 and 2
Total earned less retainage (Line 6)Line 7, less previous certificates
Your company, project, owner, application numberThe details panel

One check before you type this period. The Column D total plus the Column F total must equal Line 4 on your last Torgo application, because that is everything billed and stored to date. If it does not, a line was missed or mistyped. Line 7 must equal that application’s Line 6. A GC runs the same two checks on the carry-forward; how the two forms tie is in G702 vs G703.

How next month works in Safari

  1. Type this period’s work in Column E and any new stored material in Column F. Column G, the balance to finish in Column H, the percent column and Lines 3 to 9 calculate themselves.
  2. Download the PDF to send, and the Excel file if you keep a copy of each application.
  3. Next month, open the builder in the same browser, or on any Mac if you saved it to a free account, and press Start next month. Each line’s D + E becomes its new Column D, this Line 6 becomes next month’s Line 7, Column E clears, and the application number goes up by one.
  4. Lower Column F on any line where stored material was installed, and type the new Column E.

Signed out, the pay app is kept in this browser only, so a private window does not keep it and a different Mac starts empty. With a free account it is saved to the account, so next month opens on any Mac. Keep the Excel file from each month: it is your record, and it opens in Numbers. If you would rather work in a spreadsheet the whole time, the free G702/G703 Excel template does the same math with formulas.

How to start today

  1. Print or open your last Torgo pay application.
  2. Open the free builder in Safari and clear the example.
  3. Type the lines, Column D and Column F as in the table above, then Lines 1, 2 and 7 and the rate.
  4. Run the check above, then type this period and download the PDF.

If you also receive pay apps from your own subs, PayAppCheck reads those too: upload the PDF, a scan or the Excel file and every total is recomputed against the others, free during Early Access. The checks it runs are in how to review a pay application.
