Fillable G702/G703 form: fill it in online, or print a blank PDF (free)
A fillable G702/G703 is a pay application you type into that computes its own totals. You enter the schedule of values, this period’s work and stored materials; Column G, retainage and the payment due calculate. PayAppCheck’s free builder fills one in and downloads a PDF or Excel file. A blank printable PDF is here too.

Fillable, blank or printable: what each one is
A blank G702 and G703 is a grid of empty boxes. Printed, it is filled in by hand, and every total on it is worked out by hand. A PDF whose boxes you can type into is fillable in the narrow sense, but it adds nothing up: you can type any number into any box. What people mean by a fillable pay application is a form that does the arithmetic, so the boxes that depend on other boxes fill themselves. On a pay application that is most of them.
Those boxes follow fixed rules, the same ones the receiver recomputes before certifying, so a form that computes cannot hand the receiver a Column G that is not D + E + F.
Four ways to get one: online, blank printable, Excel or official
1. The free online builder. The G702/G703 builder is a fillable form in your browser. Type your company, the project and the schedule of values, then this period’s Columns E and F. G, the percent, H and Lines 3 to 9 calculate as you type, and the check names any figure that does not tie. Download the pay app as a PDF ready to send, or as a formula-linked Excel file. Save it to a free account and next month starts from this one: Start next month carries each item’s D + E into Column D and this Line 6 into Line 7. No account is needed to fill it in and download it.
2. The blank printable PDF. The blank G702/G703 PDF is the builder’s own form with nothing filled in: a certificate with an empty box for every line and a continuation sheet with 15 ruled rows under the column headings, letter size, to print and fill in by hand. Nothing on paper computes, so work each total out by the rules in the table below.
3. The free Excel template. The G702/G703 Excel template is the same form as a workbook: a certificate sheet and a continuation sheet, with every derived cell a formula. It opens in Excel, Numbers and Google Sheets. Next month is a copy of the file with Column D pasted forward.
4. The official AIA documents. The G702 and G703 are copyrighted contract documents published by the AIA and sold through AIA Contract Documents. If your contract requires the official forms, buy them there. PayAppCheck’s builder, template and PDFs are styled after AIA G702/G703, with the same columns, lines and arithmetic, but they are not the official forms, and PayAppCheck is not affiliated with the AIA.
What you type and what computes
These are the boxes of a G702/G703 and who fills each one on a fillable form. Only the rows marked typed or carried need you. On the blank printable form, the rows marked computes are yours to work out by hand.
| Box | Filled by | Rule |
|---|---|---|
| G703 A, B, C · Item, description, scheduled value | Typed once | Sum of C = Line 3 |
| G703 D · From previous application | Carried | Last month’s D + E; 0 on the first |
| G703 E · This period | Typed each period | Work installed this period, in dollars |
| G703 F · Materials presently stored | Typed each period | Delivered, not yet installed |
| G703 G · Completed and stored to date | Computes | D + E + F |
| G703 % (no letter) | Computes | G ÷ C |
| G703 H · Balance to finish | Computes | C − G |
| G702 Lines 1 and 2 | Typed | Contract sum; approved change orders |
| G702 Line 3 | Computes | Line 1 + Line 2 |
| G702 Line 4 | Computes | Sum of Column G |
| Retainage rate | Typed | From the contract |
| G702 Lines 5a, 5b and 5 | Computes | 5a = rate × (D + E), 5b = rate × F, 5 = 5a + 5b |
| G702 Line 6 | Computes | Line 4 − Line 5 |
| G702 Line 7 | Carried | Last month’s Line 6; 0 on the first |
| G702 Line 8 · Current payment due | Computes | Line 6 − Line 7 |
| G702 Line 9 | Computes | Line 3 − Line 6 |
Column D and Line 7 are the two carried figures. On paper you copy them off last month’s application; in the builder, Start next month fills both. Each column and line is explained in how to fill out a G702 and G703.
A filled sample pay app (PDF and Excel)
Here is the form filled in. Northline Plumbing LLC holds a $120,000 plumbing subcontract on the Cedar Street Clinic for Cedar Street Holdings: three items, no change orders, 10% retainage. This is application no. 2, for the period to 10/31/2026. The names are invented; the figures are the month 2 worked example in the how-to guide.

| 4 · Completed and stored to date | 79,000 | Sum of Column G: 30,000 + 35,000 + 14,000 |
| 5 · Total retainage | 7,900 | 10% × 75,000 of work + 10% × 4,000 stored |
| 6 · Earned less retainage | 71,100 | Line 4 − Line 5 |
| 7 · Less previous certificates | 41,400 | Application no. 1’s Line 6 |
| 8 · Current payment due | 29,700 | Line 6 − Line 7 |
| 9 · Balance to finish, with retainage | 48,900 | Line 3 − Line 6 |
In the Excel file every derived cell is a formula: change Column E and Lines 4 to 9 move with it.
